Excel is still widely used across many organisations as a standard reporting tool, often being used as a substitute for small databases. As a consequence, it has become necessary to load Excel data into APEX applications.
At the UK OUG TECH17 Conference, I introduced a number of options available to help import Excel data into APEX or the database tables underpinning your APEX applications.
The video attached is a recording of the presentation given at TECH17.
The options covered by the presentation and demonstration is not an exhaustive list, with other tools available. However, it introduces a combination of options that between them provide a variety of load capabilities, including:
- Ability to load vanilla Excel files or those first converted to csv
- Options for manual loading or automation
- Tools that can be used ad-hoc or options for scheduling
- Solutions more appropriate for smaller files or high performing tools for high volumes
